Man exposes himself to woman walking near middle school

ATLANTA — An everyday dog walk turned horrifying for one woman in a southwest Atlanta neighborhood near a middle school.

A woman told Channel 2's Justin Wilfon a man stalked her, then exposed himself.

"Honestly, I can't walk dogs the same anymore. I'm completely traumatized," Jennifer Shaffer said.

It started like most afternoons but quickly turned creepy when a driver was circling around her. Moments later, when she arrived at the intersection of Mathews and Azalia streets, the driver exposed himself.

“I didn’t believe what was happening. I really didn’t it. I didn’t think somebody was going to do that in broad daylight," she said.

She told Wilfon she then ran away and called Atlanta police, but by the time they arrived, the man was gone.

Shaffer said she now wishes she’d gone inside sooner when she first noticed the man could be following her. She says it’s an important lesson for other women.

“Just listen to your gut and pay attention to what’s happening around you," she said.

She describes the car the suspect was driving as a small silver sedan with scuffs and dent marks in the front right paneling.
